Gifted With Humour
The able bodied make such a fuss! What on earth do they pity us for? We are happy and busy merry making... They’re trying to make our life a bore!
Smile
– Just around the CORNER...
Paddling through the tides in life I still compose the heart of mine It just stops beating for a while Seeing the pain was just a sign, Why my heart went down Out of the sky and into the cloud I couldn’t take it now I wondered as to how I could correct this flaw At a distance as I Saw Lay the solution right below the eyes and above the Jaw I had seen this before and awhile I just never gave it a try… It was a good turn in time… When I knew I needed a smile… Smile through your pain… Well…try and try again… What you lose is not new... But my friend you always have a smile to gain…
Chuckles
Although I have been visually impaired for over 40 years now, my mobility is not something that I can boast about. But anyhow, once upon a time, some years ago, the need arose for me to travel alone to and from my office on a chartered bus. The arrangement was, the bus driver would drop me at a spot opposite my office and someone from the office would come for me, as I could not have negotiated the busy main road independently.
Importance of humour
Most of us have experienced the effects of negative forms of humour where we have been laughed at rather than laughed with. When confronted, people who laugh at or make fun of others typically say they were “just joking.” Discriminatory ‘jokes’ about people with disabilities are offensive to many people, and should be avoided.
