Who We Are

Our Overview

Vision, mission, and values that drive every programme we run.

🌟

Our Vision

To see every person with disability leading a dignified, financially secure, and productive life — as an equal, valued member of society.

🎯

Our Mission

To build and nurture the capacities of persons with disabilities through different sustainable interventions, for improving their quality of life, making them self-reliant, and facilitating their inclusion in the mainstream.

Four Pillars of Purpose

Every programme at FOD is anchored in one or more of these four transformational goals.

01

Economic Empowerment

To provide an appropriate platform and opportunity to persons with disabilities — especially those from poor socio-economic backgrounds — to earn their livelihood and achieve economic independence.

02

Unleashing Potential

To capacitate persons with disabilities to realise their potential and latent talents, enabling them to become productive, creative, and valued members of society.

03

Knowledge is Power

To empower persons with disabilities with the knowledge, information, and skills required to navigate the world with confidence and agency.

04

Building an Inclusive Society

To create awareness and sensitise the masses about various aspects of different disabilities, fostering a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable society for all.

FOD Logo

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

The central F symbolises the backside of a wheelchair, representing physical disability. The base circle is symbolic of visual impairment, and the semi-circle on the right denotes hearing impairment. All these disabilities come under one single umbrella — a family of persons with different disabilities.

The name FAMILY was chosen because it is the family that is most caring and compassionate — more than any rehabilitation institute.

Words That Inspired Us

Family of Disabled has had the good fortune of being blessed by some of the greatest souls of our time.

"FOD is a supremely compassionate foundation. May it become the pyramid of hope, confidence and growth. May its achievements of the cause of disabled become formidable. Human sufferings cannot be tackled by rules and regulations. Society always praises creativity and courage. FOD's heroic service to the cause of the disabled is bound to succeed."

"I am glad to know that FOD is formed to bring together the disabled as a family. The disabled are people with limitations – but it does not matter so much what a person can or cannot do, what matters is what he or she is. Inspite of their handicaps, they have indeed been blessed in many ways. I pray FOD will reach out to help the disabled support and strengthen one another."
